Freddys Shawnee network outage
Clients chief complaint was the POS system was not working and the server was not accessing the network. I first logged into the Sonicwall Router/firewall to identify the network settings. I reviewed the Access control list, firewall logs and settings.
The POS network resides on the 192.168.3.0/24 address.
I identified that the server was plugged into the Sonicwall in port x3. Port X3 was not configured. I moved the network cable from port X3 to the switch that was plugged into the sonic wall on port X0. The server was still not talking on the network. I tested the network cable by plugging into a laptop. It was working. I then removed the usb network device from the server and plugged it into the original network port on the server. I was then able to see all of the devices. Once all of the devices were powered on, none of the devices were able to communicate to the server. The server was then reconfigured and the devices reattached. All devices were tested and working before exiting the site.
Chris the site POC was satisfied and everything was good.
I tested the old switch that was replaced and determined that they could put the old switch back into service and return the new switch. Also the new usb network device bought for the server could be returned.
